Description
Up close with a Green turtle (Chelonia mydas) waiving at you, its observer. Photographed August 2018 on the island of Bonaire. These herbivores grow to be among the largest sea turtles. Most often they are observed by divers when they swim to the surface for a breath of air. At times they can be found resting on the bottom among the corals. Exceptionally they may be seen feasting on jellyfish. Plastic bags floating in the ocean are a real threat as are fishnets where they tend to get caught.
