There are numerous butterflyfish in our oceans. Like butterflies on land, they have been graced by nature with designs to help protect them from predators. Spotfin has a stripe through its real eye and a spot on the tail fin.

Butterfly fish are delicate creatures in our seas. Though they may not fly through pesticides as butterflies may be exposed to such a danger, they may be impacted by chemicals on sunscreen used by many swimmers. Such a delicate balance in nature worthy of consideration by all of us who enter the sea.
